Florida Trip

I am having a difficult time acclimating to life in the South.
My husband appreciates my plight,
however,
it stresses him out.
I have decided that in order to ease the transition,
I must occupy my mind.
Children/school/travel...
...I welcome anything that allows me to shift my focus on something other that my current location.
Last week, we traveled.
****
Through the bible belt we went.
Louisiana,
Mississippi,
SO much excitement.
Alabama,
Until we finally arrived in...
FLORIDA!
Conveniently for us,
Wyatt and Jess reside on the panhandle.
We overwhelmed their beautiful home,
and breathed out the stress that had accumulated during the past four months.
They have a private beach in their neighborhood,
the revelation of which resulted in eager children,
itching to explore.
And explore they did.
They didn't even bother removing their clothes.
Jess and Scarlet became instant BFF's,
My children rekindled their affections for their cousin Indy,
and we all swam, and swam, and swam.
It was paradise.
A perfect escape from our reality.
"Remy was here"
 ******
On Thursday,
Jess and Wyatt brought us to a little zoo just past the base.
It was intimate and charming.
The boys were thrilled with these little budgies that swarmed you upon entering their aviary.
Scarlet was less so.
The Giraffe ate out of our hands.
(Who knew that their tongues were so rough?)
The proximity to the creatures was unnerving.
There was very little separating us from them (or them from us).
But it was a lovely little park,
and we all had a happy day.
******
The beach however,
was our favorite destination.
On our last full day there,
Jess and Wyatt took us to Beasley park.
It was beautiful.
The sand was soft and snow white.
The water was clear and warm.
The waves were tiny...
...unintimidating.
The kids were in heaven.
Hours were spent enjoying this paradise.
It was a great way to spend the day.
And you know the day has been a success,
when everyone is exhausted by the end of it.
*****
Thanks for the vacation Wyatt and Jess!
I can't wait to visit again!
*****
More adventures/escapes to come.
xoxo
